Beloved husband, father, and grandfather
LOWELL - Francisco S. Carvalho, 85, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Northwood Nursing and Rehab Center. He was the beloved husband of Maria L. (Dionisio) Carvalho for 52 years.
Francisco was born in Guadalupe, Graciosa, Azores on September 25, 1932, a son of the late Jose Espinola and Augusta Silva. He attended school in Graciosa, and was then a member of the Army.
Francisco and his wife have lived in Lowell for over 40 years.
Prior to retirement, Francisco was employed at Cambridge Tool as a Supervisor for 30 years. Prior to that, he worked as a Packer at Commodore Foods for 10 years.
Francisco was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and held membership in the Holy Ghost and Holy Trinity Society for many years.
Francisco enjoyed fishing with his family. He was an avid gardener, growing grapes and making his own wine for relatives and friends to enjoy.
Francisco is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maria Carvalho of Lowell; his son Valquirio N. "Val" Carvalho and his wife Heidi L. Carvalho of Brookline, NH; his three grandchildren, Antonio N. Carvalho, (Fifth Grade), Mateo W. Carvalho, (Second Grade) Carlos N. Carvalho, (First Grade), all of Brookline, NH; a sister, Maria Guteberta Bettencourt and her husband Manuel of Lowell; two sisters-in-law, Leocadina Teves of Tewksbury, and Eva Dinis of Stoneham, MA; also many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Francisco was the brother of the late Merces Bettencourt and Manuel Espinola.
CARVALHO - In Lowell, February 5, 2018 at Northwood Nursing and Rehab, Francisco S. Carvalho, 85, the beloved husband of Maria Carvalho. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on MONDAY from 9 AM until 11 AM. Mr. Carvalho's Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH, Central St. Lowell. Burial in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery.
