George Boylen Obituary

George W. Boylen, Jr. active in Wilmington politics, WWII vet; 80 WILMINGTON Mr. George William Boylen Jr., 80, of Wilmington, died Saturday, December 1, at the Wilmington Health Care Center. He was the husband of Mary M. (Cianchetti) Boylen. George was born on June 13, 1927 in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late George W. and Marion (Eagan) Boylen. George grew up in Wilmington, where he was educated, and graduated from Wilmington High School. He also graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. George was a WWII veteran. George worked for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as an industrial hygienist, until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of St. Thomas Church in Wilmington, and the Wilmington Knights of Columbus. George was active in the town of Wilmington where he was the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. He also served on the Winchester Hospital Board of Directors. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Rosemary Haley of Tewksbury, Kathy Boylen of Wilmington; a son, George W. III of Kingston, NH; a brother, Daniel Boylen of Bradenton, FL; a sister, Jeanne Crupi of Reading; and a granddaughter, Mary Kate Haley of Tewksbury. He was also the brother of the late Barbara White, and Mary Lanni. BOYLEN of Wilmington, George W. Boylen, Jr., age 80, died Dec. 1, 2007. Funeral from the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, Wednesday, December 6 at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Church, Wilmington at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Wilmington Memorial Library Fund, 175 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA 01887.
