Gerald Rivard Obituary

Rochester, N.H. - Gerald J. Rivard, 72, of Rochester, a former longtime resident of Lowell and a Korean War veteran, died Sunday, Oct. 29, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.

He was the husband of Haroleen "Jo" Rivard, to whom he was married for more than 50 years.

He was born in Lowell, Jan. 31, 1934, son of the late Joseph and Anna Gervais Rivard Lanouette. He lived most of his life in Lowell, moving to Rochester four years ago.

Mr. Rivard was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean War.

Before retiring in 1996, Mr. Rivard worked for 31 years at Raytheon Co., in Andover, Mass.

He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Lowell Lodge of Elks #87.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing poker and cribbage, and enjoyed socializing with his friends and neighbors at Tara Estates.

Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah Rivard Hogue and Ronald Hogue of Lowell and Merrimack, and Carol Rivard of Lowell and Freedom; a son, Michael Rivard of Lowell; two grandchildren, Adam Hogue and Jennifer Hogue; a sister, Marge Hausler; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Paul Rivard.
