Harry Rubinstein of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Bronx, NY, and Chelmsford, MA, entered in rest peacefully on November 24, 2021, his family at his side, aged 90 years. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Rauch) Rubinstein with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

He was born in Cologne, Germany on December 19, 1930, a son of the late Samuel and Lisa (Silberberg) Rubinstein. Harry graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School, Bronx, and went on to pursue an undergraduate and graduate degree at Brooklyn College, and a PHD from Purdue University.

For many years, Harry worked at Merck Chemical as a Research Chemist. Later, he was a beloved Professor and Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where, upon retirement, he was honored with the distinguished status of Professor Emeritus.

Harry enjoyed many hobbies including flying small airplanes, woodworking, and glass fusing. Most of all, he loved spending time at his home in Wellfleet on Cape Cod with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Moira Maggio and her husband Rocco, Felicia Magida and her husband Martin, and Simone Horvitz and her husband Steven. Seven grandchildren, Gregory Maggio and his wife Kaitlyn, Daniel Maggio, Dylan Magida, Cameron Magida, Julia Horvitz and Sarah Horvitz, two great-grandchildren, Emilia Maggio and Nathan Maggio, and two sisters, Ruth Martel, and Esther Passey and her husband Ablee.

Friends are invited to his Graveside Service at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Waverly Ave., Chelmsford, on Tuesday at 10 AM. Please omit flowers.

Shiva will be observed at the Westford Regency, 219 Littleton Rd., Westford, on Tuesday from 2-5 and 6-9 PM, with a Minyan Service at 7 PM.
