WENHAM -- Henry Daniel Audesse 93, beloved husband of former Senator Nancy Achin-Sullivan Audesse, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital in Boston.

Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Deziel and Rose (Nolin) Audesse. He was raised in Andover and graduated from Punchard High School in Andover. As a young man, Mr. Audesse was the assistant Golf Pro at Andover Country Club.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II aboard the USS Yorktown as a member of the United States Navy. Following the War, he continued his service to his country by serving an additional twenty years with the Naval Reserves.

Mr. Audesse owned and operated H. Audesse Construction, and left a legacy of revitalization in downtown Portland ME, the development of Pickering Wharf in Salem, and beautiful homes throughout New England, among many other notable projects. He was the owner and Chairman of the Board of Hampstead Hospital in Hampstead, NH and was a former owner of the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem. He was an avid gardener and installed exquisite gardens at his home in Wenham. Mr. Audesse had a great knowledge of French art and history and had a remarkable collection of antique French furniture and decorative art.

He was a loving, caring and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. The Audesse family is particularly grateful to Dr. Jatin Dave, Dr. Nancy Donovan, and the Shapiro Pavilion Nursing Staff for their compassionate care.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared twenty-four years of joy, he is survived by two daughters, Sharon MacCord and her husband, James of Hampstead, NH and Susan Seitz of Deerfield, NH; eight grandchildren, James MacCord Jr. of Bradford, Scott MacCord and his wife, Dana of Louisiana, Colleen Young and her husband, Adam of Exeter, NH, Stephen MacCord and his wife, Sharidy of Virginia, Eric Seitz and his wife, Megan of Deerfield, NH and Elizabeth, Emily and Lauren Seitz; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua MacCord, Nicholas Barnfield, Carson MacCord, Austin Henry MacCord, Hope Young, Addison Seitz and Danielle Seitz; three sisters, Theresa Milone and her husband, Joseph of Methuen, Lillian Bedard of Methuen and Doris Weiner of Columbus, OH; and many nieces and nephews including his beloved great-niece, Gabriella Olmo. He was also the father of the late Gail Audesse and brother of the late Rose Matthes, Helen Ouellette and Maurice Audesse.

AUDESSE -- His funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Paul, 80 Union St., Hamilton, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Monday, September 14, 2015 from 3 - 7 p.m. Burial in the Wenham Cemetery.
