To Huey's family and friends; Hueys friendly face and demeanor welcomed my wife and I into a Boating Safety class which ultimately led to my joining of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Our friendship continued over the years and we worked side by side in PE classes and boat operations. He did his first and last patrols as crew for me, the last of which was the Sail of the Constitution. Huey was noted for his sly wit and I had many a hard time trying to keep a straight face when he passed me a note in a PE class or elsewhere. His notes were so unique and humorous that I intended to put them in book form which I unfortunately never did. One of his other claims to fame was his position of Senior Lobster Cracker at our annual Lobster Bake at Coast Guard Station Merrimack River. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

A life dedicated to service is a full life. Our Coast Guard Auxiliarists do so much for our nation and help the Coast Guard stay connected to the community. I wish their enthusiasm and dedication were contagious, then I'd walk them through the barracks and halls of all CG accession points. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Hugh as a USCG Auxiliarist. He & I were in the same training class for our Operations Qualifications. I crewed with him many times. I have never known a more loyal, or harder working Auxiliarist, than Hugh. He will be sorely missed.

I am saddened to hear of Hubie's passing. We were classmates at The Oakland School. He was a great kid and it was obvious, even back then, that Hubie was going to be a very special man.
I offer my prayers for Hubie and his family.
