LOWELL James Raymond "Jim" Ahearn, Sr., the beloved husband of Margaret A. (Gendreau) Ahearn and a resident of Lawrence Street died Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2009 at his home, with his family at his side. He was 69 years old.
Jim was born in Lowell on December 10, 1939, a son of the late Frank and Jenny (MacFarland) Ahearn. Jim attended the Lowell Public Schools. For many years, Jim was a self employed carpenter in the Lowell area. He was a skillful and talented finish carpenter.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed camping and fishing every summer. He was also a boxing fan.
Jim loved his two boys and his four grandchildren very much.
Jim was a Friend of Bill W. He helped many people over the years achieve sobriety. He also served as an A.A. Councilor.
Surviving Jim in addition to his wife Margaret are his sons, James Ahearn, Jr. and his wife Danielle of Methuen, and Brian Ahearn and his wife Kimberly of Nashua; his four grandchildren, Jennifer Ahearn, Tiffany Ahearn, Victoria Ahearn, and Derek Ahearn, all of Methuen; a brother, Frank Ahearn and his wife Barbara of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ahearn was also the brother of the late Shirley Gendron and Hugh Ahearn who passed away on August 28, 2009.
