James Boenis Obituary

Local Realtor

LOWELL

Mr. James L. Boenis, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021 with his family by his side.

Jim was born on September 25, 1949 in Lowell, the son of the late Louis and Tessie (Makris) Boenis. He was the loving husband of 27 years to the late Maureen (Kinnon) Boenis whom he lost on May 14, 2011 and he was the loving owner of his cherished Labrador, the late Chloe.

A proud lifelong resident of the Acre section of Lowell, Jim was educated through the Lowell schools, graduating from Lowell High School in 1967. He later went to graduate from St. Anslem College in 1971.

Jim and his late wife Maureen bought Century 21 Sager Real Estate in 1996 and operated the business until selling it in 2019. He was a member of the Northeast Association of Realtors for many years. Jim was an avid photographer and loved capturing family photos, especially of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed travelling annually to Marco Island, Florida with his wife Maureen.

He was a faithful, lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and community. Jim enjoyed meeting with his friends every Friday to catch up on the local sports teams and the news over a cup of coffee. He was an avid local sports fan with a great love for the Red Sox.

His family would like to thank Dr. Meltsakos for his kindness and medical advice and support over the past several years.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Alexandra Nyberg and her husband Kevin and their daughters, Emily and Sarah; his son Gregory Boenis; three stepsons, Ralph Martinese and his wife Maureen, Christopher Martinese, and Adam Martinese; his sister, Frances Boenis Depontbriand and her daughter Jessica DePontbriand; his beloved lab, Lily and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.

I am so shocked and devastated by the loss of Jim.
I met him through the Facebook Marketplace when he was selling a table. When I went to pick it up we chatted for over an hour and a half. I felt I knew him all my life. He was a wonderful man with so much love for his family. We became Facebook friends that day and I have know him for about four years. I always followed his posts and I knew his true love for his beloved wife Maureen. His heart was truly broken when he lost her.
He loved his Grandchildren with all of his heart.
I will miss seeing his posts on Facebook.
Jim was truly a wonderful man, Father and Papou as well as a friend. Jim I am so glad you are reunited with the love of your life. I hope you are dancing and catching up with your love. My deepest sympathies to your Daughter & Son and sister and especially to your grandaughters May you rest in peace!
God Bless!
