James Lucas Obituary

Tyngsboro

James Steven Lucas, 35, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 after a tragic car accident. He was the loving husband of Ali (Torrice) Lucas. Married in 2013 and together for over 10 years, they were expecting their first child later this month.

Jim was born in Lowell on July 16, 1986, the son of Gary and Debbie (Fleury) Lucas. He lived in Tewksbury for a few years before his family relocated to Chelmsford. He enjoyed spending summers at Newfound Lake with family from the time he was two months old. A passionate and gifted musician, he could play any song on guitar or piano by ear. He enjoyed playing with his former bands, going to concerts, and listening to a vast collection of music. He loved good food and was on a quest for the best roast beef. An avid car enthusiast, he attended car shows with his '69 Cadillac and loved talking to others about classic cars. He managed his family auto repair shop, Advanced Automotive in Wilmington, a third generation business, and worked there for 15 years. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved making people laugh.

Besides his wife Ali and daughter Ruby of Tyngsboro, and his parents Gary and Debbie Lucas of Dracut, he is survived by his sisters Kerry MacLeod and her husband Jason of Derry, NH, and Kristen Karabelas and fiancé Mike Jandrew of Dracut; brothers-in-law Dave Torrice and his wife Sarah of Andover, and Sam Torrice and fiancé Michelle Muise of Billerica; sister-In-law Becca Torrice and her partner Seth Haven of Vermont. Mother-in law and father-in-law Joan and James Torrice of Billerica; grandmother Claire Lucas of Pelham, NH; and grandmother-in-law Laura Morrow of Woburn. Late grandparents James Lucas, Normand and Shirley Fleury. He was a loving and playful uncle to Kendra, Charlotte, Sophia, Lydia, and Sawyer. He will be missed dearly by family, many close friends, and devoted customers.

A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA 978-851-2061. Please visit www.TewksburyFuneralHome.com to leave the family a message of condolence.

I worked across the street and brought my cars to Advanced Automotive for 23 years. I watched Jim grow up to work and then manage the family auto repair shop. I came to trust him to make sure my cars were safe, not just for me but my daughter, as well. His reassuring smile will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I hadn´t seen Jim in years, but he was always just one of those people you always thought of warmly. He was smart but modest, funny and fun but dry. Back in the days of the Applewood Social he was inviting and open. Just the oddest quiet charisma. I had respect for Jim as one of the rare people I can honestly say I have never had a bad thought about. He seemed to always show his true self.

The world lost a quality human at the worst possible time. I don´t pray but Ill make an exception for him and his.

Rest In Peace Jim.

When I think of Jim, I think giant smile and great music. Jim was the first person I had ever heard play Hey Ya acoustic. The jam sessions in the basement of rose ave & all that apple wood smoked deliciousness. I can´t believe this is real life. My heart goes out to Ali & baby. Im sure I am not the only one to be thankful for the time they got with Jim.

Jim could always put a smile on your face no matter what. I will cherish the memories of playing music with him and cracking jokes late into the night. My condolences to his wife and family, he was a great man.
