Jeanne Fallier Obituary

Westford

(Audrey) Jeanne Hanway Fallier, 101, of Westford, MA passed away peacefully March 20, 2022. Born September 28, 1920 in Indianapolis to Louise Seward and Paul Scott Hanway. Raised in Ridgefield Park, NJ she went on to graduate from Campbells Business School. Predeceased by her parents, her three siblings (Kathleen, Martha, Paul) and her husband Charles Nicholas Fallier, Jr. with whom she married in 1943.

She is survived by her son Robert Fallier and wife Diane of Hollis, NH and her son Forrest Fallier and wife Cathleen of Chelmsford, MA. Also her grandchildren Kyle Fallier and wife Kayla, Jeffrey Fallier and Caitlin Fallier; and great-grandchildren Isabella, Kenleigh, Kolton, Gabriel, Ryker, and Charlotte. And many friends and family around the country.

Jeanne amazed many with how she enjoyed life to its fullest. She lived independently in her home until the age of 98, only then moving into assisted living at Robbins Brook in Acton, MA. She was active to the end expressing herself through painting, drawing, fabric crafting and piano.

Jeanne's first jobs were in New York City moving fast from secretary to public relations management in publishing. There she met many famous people in the world including Eleanor Roosevelt and presidents Herbert Hoover and Harry S. Truman. Additionally, she sang classical music professionally for 25 years with the Schola Cantorum of New York, exclusive chorus for the New York Philharmonic. Sung opera with Jerome Hines at the New York Met. Also performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Moving her family to Westford, MA in 1972, she opened in her home THE RUGGING ROOM, a studio-business dedicated to the craft of rug hooking. There she created and sold her own rug designs (over 300) and taught students the craft. A recognized authority, Jeanne was invited to show her works at the American Folk Art Museum in London, England as a member of the International Guild. Coordinated the antique rug project at the Beauport Museum in Gloucester, MA. She has also travelled to China, Mexico, Greece, Norway, and Alaska.

A charter member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists (ATHA), Jeanne served as national editor of their newsletter and remains on the board of editors for Rug Hooking Magazine. Wrote 12 published books on rug art, Bible study and her own children's fiction. Performed on local television with her own hand-made puppets and theater, KEEPSAKE CASTLE. She also wrote articles for the Westford newspaper and provided her historical observations and local happenings. She journaled all her life. And is recognized on the internet.

There will be a private burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford, MA.

A celebration of Jeanne's life is being planned to occur in May at the Westford Senior Center. All will be welcome; notice to follow. Donations in her memory may be directed to Care Dimensions Hospice of 75 Sylvan St, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Arrangements provided by Westford Healy Funeral Home, Westford, MA. There will be a celebration of Jeanne's life and her works hopefully in June. I am sorry but I am trying to gather her things to display at the event. I will schedule and let all know when to come, share, and have refreshments. Thanks, PEGGY SEWARD

I spoke to her about the Blue Angel pattern sometime in the 2000s and she was so helpful. I will order it today from W. Cushings. She was such a delightful person and will be missed by myself and many people. She was lovely. I enjoyed talking to her and tried to call her back but I am sure she had moved into assisted living by that time. I had no other way to find her and I deeply regret that.

I was lucky to see so much of Jeanne's artistic work - her original designed hooked rugs, artwork, and books. She created photo albums of her many world travels. She worked hard to create family histories. Always full of creative ideas. I am pleased that I was able to meet and talk with her. Wishing that I had been able to spend more tine with you. Wow, you lived to be 101!!
