Jeannette McCoy Obituary

PELHAM, NH – Jeannette P. (Lafortune) McCoy, age 77, a longtime resident of Pelham, NH, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. "Mike" McCoy Jr., and loving mother of the late Lisa J. McCoy.

Born in Central Falls, RI, on April 20, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Germaine (Lagasse) Lafortune.

She was educated in the Tewksbury, MA, school system and was a graduate of the Lowell Academy of Hairdressing.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Town of Pelham and will always be remembered as the dancing crossing guard who entertained the students of the Pelham schools every morning and afternoon.

Jeannette was an active and longtime communicant of St. Patrick's Church, where she served as the facilitator of the bereavement program and provided her famous chicken salad sandwiches for mercy meals. Active in her community, she also served as secretary and trustee for the Gibson Cemetery Department and assisted those in need with food and clothing.

She enjoyed camping with her husband, square dancing, and spending time with her friends, especially Linda, Bob, Fran, Ernie, Nancy, John, Jan, and her neighbor John. Blessed with the "gift of gab" among other special talents, Jeannette loved to strike up conversations with anyone and everyone, and could sell just about anything.

Jeannette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian T. and Monique A. McCoy of Dudley, MA; two grandsons, Andrew and Benjamin McCoy, who were the joy and pride of her life; a sister, Gabrielle Lausier of Tyngsborough; three sisters in law and two brothers in law, Patricia M. McCoy of Lowell, Mary R. and Ronald Bator of N. Chelmsford and Ruth and Paul Fauvel of Dracut; Charles E. and Shelagh McCoy of Pelham, and Timothy P. and Mary Lou McCoy of Buford, GA; also several supportive and kind nieces and nephews that he loved deeply.

She was the sister of the late Robert Lafortune, and sister in law of the late Donald and Elaine McCoy, and Raymond Lausier,

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the Pelham EMTs, Fire and Police, Merrimack Valley Hospice Home Care, and D'Youville Life & Wellness Community for all the support and care they provided to Jeannette during her illness.

Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Tuesday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 12 Main St., Pelham.
