John Dabilis Obituary

He was born in Lowell on Nov. 22, 1921, son of the late Thomas and the late Constantina (Fousias) Dabilis. He was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School.

Mr. Dabilis served in the Army during World War II and was a private first class in the Transportation Corps in Seattle and Alaska. He was an honored sharpshooter and awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Dabilis worked as a brakeman with Boston & Maine Railroads for many years. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he worked at Schiavoni & Sons in Boston's Charlestown.

Mr. Dabilis was the past commander of the Greek American Legion Post #1 in Lowell. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Constance "Tina" Dabilis of Dracut; a brother, Arthur Dabilis and his wife Regina of Chelmsford; four nephews, Soterios Dabilis and his wife Melissa of Nashua, N.H., Thomas Dablis and his wife Crystal of Manchester, N.H., Phillip Dabilis and his wife Nancy of Hollis, and Thomas Wourgiotis and his wife Nancy of Lowell; two grandnieces, Cassandra Dabilis and Alexis Dabilis; a grandnephew, Adam Dabilis; and several cousins.

He was also the brother of the late Sophia (Dabilis) Wourgiotis and Harry Dabilis.
