Kathleen A. Becht Loving Mother and Grandmother LOWELL Kathleen Ann "Kay" (Letford) Becht, 89, a resident of the Highlands, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Willow Manor. Mrs. Becht was the wife of the late William J. Becht, Jr. who died in 1955. Kathleen was born in Lowell on March 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (McEnaney) Letford. Kathleen was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School. She also attended Lowell Commercial College. Prior to her retirement, Kay was employed for many years as a teller at the Lowell 5c Savings Bank. She was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church, and more recently St. Margaret's Church. Kay enjoyed reading, traveling, and leisurely rides in the car. She loved the beach and the ocean. Kay was a woman of strong faith. She held membership in the St. Margaret's Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Most of all, Kay loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Kay loved her home and enjoyed the company of friends. Surviving Mrs. Becht are her daughter, Judith Cote and her husband Daniel of Lowell; her son, William J. Becht, III; two grandchildren, Heather Workman and Ashley Cote; two great grandchildren, Brian and Thomas Workman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Mrs. Becht was the mother of the late Brian J. Becht who died in 1977, and sister of the late Anna Gillis and Grace Kierce. BECHT In Lowell, April 27, 2009. Kathleen A. Mrs. Becht's Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 A.M. at ST. MARGARET'S CHURCH, Stevens Street, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
