GROTON -- Kumar Chinnaswamy died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the age of 53 at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a three month battle with myocarditis and subsequent complications.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, their two children, Sara and Jay, his parents, A. V. and Sarojini Chinnaswamy and his brother, Mano Chinnaswamy.

Kumar graduated from Abbington Heights High School in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania, received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

Kumar worked in the computer industry for many companies including Digital Equipment Company, StarTek and 3Com before becoming one of the founders of Broadband Access Systems which was later acquired by ADC. He had recently retired to Florida where he pursued his hobbies of fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed hiking, skiing, tennis, travel and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends.

CHINNASWAMY -- Visiting hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton, MA on Tuesday April 26, 2016 from 5-8 pm. A Memorial will be held at the Funeral Home on Wed., April 27, 2016 at 10 am.

I was so sad to learn that Kumar passed away. We worked together at DEC and we played on the same basketball team. I'm sorry that I lost contact with you Kumar, you were a genuinely good person and I will miss you.

I am saddened to hear about the passing of Kumar. I enjoyed many fine
hours on the tennis court with Kumar. He was always friendly and a welcoming
presence on the court, with me and all the other players. He also helped me
with making decisions and advice about my kids going to college. He was a
great guy and I will miss him.

I was so very saddened to hear of Kumar's passing. In every respect he was just a perfect gentleman to have as a neighbor. Whenever I saw Kumar in the yard and we had a brief chance to chat I always came away thinking that he was such a smart and kind soul. When I had the privilege of going next door for Superbowl parties or the like, I was very appreciative of Liz and Kumar's hospitality and generosity. Rest in peace Kumar and know that even people you met in passing thought very highly of you. Your wonderful example of gentility, intelligence and grace remain as an inspiration to all of us.

I write this with the heaviest of hearts. Jay and Sarah, you were Applewild buddies with Andrew Gill and Shannon as well.
