LOWELL - Loretta A. (Rich) James, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 at Winchester Nursing Center after a long illness.

She was born in Rumford, ME on November 27, 1944 a daughter of the late Laurence and Christine (Hatstat) Rich.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a bank secretary at Commonwealth Federal Bank in Lowell for several years.

Loretta enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, crocheting, watching auto racing, and was a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Norman Gosse of Sudbury; her children, Elvira Barrett of Salem and Anthony James and his fiancé, Darlene Goodwin of Lowell; a sister, Victoria Greene and her husband, Cecil of Texas; a brother, William Rich and his wife, Carol of Rochester, NH; her grandchildren, Stephanie James, Christen Parker and Jason James; also several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William Barrett and former wife of the late Raymond James.

JAMES - Family and friends are invited to celebrate Loretta's life on Thursday, Oct. 4 from 4 to 7pm at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell. A Prayer Service will conclude the visitation at 7pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your own choice.
