BEDFORD, MA -- Michael George Bossi, 50, of Bedford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2014, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.

Michael was born in Exeter, NH on February 15, 1964, the son of George E. Bossi of Plum Island, MA and the late Claire Morrisette Bossi who died Oct. 17, 2013. He graduated from Chelmsford High School, Class of 1982. During his high school years 1980-1982, Michael was an avid athlete, who played football and wrestled. He was a two time Division I State Wrestling Champion. Lowell Sun Wrestler of the Year 1982, Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team 1982. Michael attended UMASS Amherst on a wrestling scholarship. While at UMASS, he qualified for two years for the New England NCAA's. Michael was the New England Champion at 150 lbs. in 1986.

Michael enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served six years attaining the rank of Aviation Survivalman Third Class. He was stationed in L.A., Portland, ME and Otis AFB, and was instrumental in several at sea rescue missions.

Michael worked as a CDL truck driver with NEW PENN Trucking of Billerica, MA for more than 20 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was an MIWOA wrestling official. He enjoyed fishing, boating, working out, wrestling and spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his father, Michael is survived by his two children, Matthew Bossi and Kristina Bossi of Peabody, MA; one granddaughter, Leah Russell; two brothers and their wives, Mark J. and Patricia Bossi of Bedford, MA, and Jeffrey P. and Cynthia Bossi of Amherst, NH; many nieces and nephews and the rest of his relatives and friends.

The family of Michael Bossi wishes to thank the Bedford VA Hospital, Bedford EMT as well as Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.

Burial will be at the VA National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
