Michael Dubois Obituary

Michael D. Dubois
Loving Brother, Uncle, Friend

LOWELL -- Michael D. Dubois, 29, a resident of the Sacred Heart Neighborhood, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013.

Michael was born in Lowell on August 26, 1983, a son of the late Normand W. Dubois and Rejeanne R. (Bernier) Dubois. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School, Lowell High School and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Michael was a popular English Teacher at the Lowell High School Freshman Academy. Michael loved teaching and loved his students.

He was a devoted son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend and teacher. He lived life to the fullest and cherished the time he spent with family and friends. Michael was the type of guy who was always there when you needed him. He could cheer you up with his contagious smile, which you couldn't help but return. Michael was warm, loving, and huggable. He always had a positive attitude.

Always active, he enjoyed camping, going to the beach, working out, and traveling.

Michael was the most amazing uncle to his nieces and nephews. He could fill any room with laughter and made friends wherever he was and with whomever he was with. He was wise beyond his years. Michael was great at everything he did. He was all about getting things done. Michael was a good listener and was a motivator, two qualities that made him a good person and a great teacher.

Michael is survived by his three sisters, Jacqueline Dubois Zegowitz and her husband James of Westford, Diane Dubois Prestipino of Lowell, Suzanne Dubois Frediani and her husband Jason of Lowell, and his brother, David Dubois of Lowell; his adoring nieces and nephews, Abigail, Jacob, and Matthew Zegowitz of Westford, Julia Prestipino of Lowell, and Jack and Max Frediani of Lowell. Michael is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

DUBOIS -- In Lowell, February 2, 2013, Michael D. Dubois, 29, a lifelong Lowell resident.

Dear Diane and Dubois family. I´m sure it feels like yesterday that Michael passed into the arms of Our Lord. It is so difficult to think that twelve years have passed, February 2, 2013 / February 2, 2025. Thank God we have Our faith that Michael is safe at home with Jesus, Mom and Dad. God bless you all. I love you Diane.<3

The way this man projected his energy onto others, would have you think there wasn't anything wrong going on. He was always positively animated towards the students he'd interact with. He actually broke up a fist fight I got into during recess and instead of verbally disarming me, he just asked "what was wrong?". Neck deep into his own problems and he just genuinely wanted to know if I was okay. Never forgot this man for that instance.

I had Mr.Dubois for a couple of months as a sub two years ago my sophomore year, he was an amazing person in general. Even after I had him he always made sure to say hi and ask me how I was when we ran into each other. I still cannot believe you are gone. You are missed so much. But, today I know you are looking down on us from a better place. Though I shed my tears for you, I am happy you are happy in paradise. We come across few like you, you will never be forgotten. See you later friend.

I discovered that I taught Michael at Sacred Heart in the early 90's. I wish I had known this because we would have had a few laughs reminiscing. Those were good days. SH was a wonderful little community of children, each one as cute as the next. Michael was very quiet and so handsome. The first time I met him at LHS I caught him in the office and said "wow you're a head turner" and he got so red in the face. I wish I had more time to become friends. I am very sorry for your loss Dubois family. He will surely be missed. We were blessed to have him in our lives.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I graduated LHS with Michael, He was always such a nice and positive person. I am so sorry for his family's loss.

February 7, 2013

Thank you Mr. Dubois for your kindnesses shown to my son. Jack reminded me of how you had everyone sing Happy Birthday to him ... he got a kick out of that and being a kid coming from 10 years at a small, parochial school it made him feel so welcome. Jack always spoke so highly of you and even though my meeting with you was brief I felt as though I had lost a friend. You made a difference in Jack's life and we want your family to know this. Thank you for everything and may you rest in heavenly peace.

Mr.Dubois will always be in our hearts. I am one of the lucky students that had the privilage of being in his English class this year. He had a smile that would light up the classroom. Every student has one teach that from the first day they feel this connection with and Mr.Dubois was mine. He wasnt one of those teachers that didnt really want to be in the classroom he enjoyed teaching us. We his students admired his dedcation to our education. I can't even display in words how much he brought everyone's spirt up in the morning with just a simple goodmorning and his bright smile. I'm just glad I got a chane to meet such an incrediable man. You'll never be forgotten. Thank you for all your knowledge you have shared with my class and I. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

February 7, 2013

My deepest condolences to Michaels family. I hope to one day be half the teacher that Michael was. Michael changed many students lives with his amazing smile and his ability to challenged his students in a positive and nurturing way. May you rest in peace.

February 7, 2013

While I only met Mike one time at a wedding, his positive energy and outgoing personality stood out. He was the star of the dance floor and was so much fun to be around. From our brief conversation, I could tell he was the kind of person that lived life with zest and surely had a positive influence on all those that he came in contact with. My sincere condolences go out to Michael's family and friends and may your fond and loving memories comfort you during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Dubois family on your loss.. You are all in my thoughts. This prayer has given me some peace, I hope it might give you some as well..

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again

I knew Mr. Dubois since the Daley Middle school, I admitt at first I disliked him a bunch, but I later realized everything he was doing was for my own good! He helped me, motivated me and made me realize that having a negative outlook on life would get me no where. His smile, brought a smile to my face, other lhs students, and faculty as well.. His positive energy was felt when you were around him, and it even rubbed off. i couldnt help but smile around him. I'm truley honored to be able to say I knew him for so many uears. My prayers go out to his family, I cant imagine the pain youre all feeling. May god be with you. Gone but never forgotten Mr. Dubois. We love you!

I did not know Michael personally, but I know a number of people who did. I have heard many wonderful things about him - when I saw his picture, I could just tell by his extraordinary smile that he was indeed a very special young man. My deepest, most sincere sympathies go out to all those who knew Michael and loved him - most especially, his mother. I am the mother of a son, and I know that within him lies my world. I cannot imagine the pain you must be feeling. May you take comfort in knowing that the love and joy that Michael brought to those he encountered during his all too short time here on earth changed lives forever and for the better. May God watch over you and your family during this unimaginably painful and difficult time. Hold tightly to one another.
