Nicholas Vergados Obituary
Born in Vergadeika, Greece on February 11, 1944 he was the son of the late George and Giannoula (Bogris) Vergados.
A lifelong resident of Lowell, he was the co-owner of Nick and Angela's restaurant from 1975-1981 in Belmont and then he opened his restaurant Nick's Restaurant in downtown Lowell in February 1981 and owned and operated with his wife Donna until 1998.
Nick was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell serving on their Board of Directors and working on many committees in the church which included the annual Holy Trinity Greek Festival, the Hellenic American School Golf Tournament in which he was a co-founder and the Folk Festival of Lowell. He was also former president of the Logganiko Society and a current member. Nick was a 24 year member of the AHEPA Lowell Hellas Chapter 102 and was involved in the Chapters' Golf Tournament for the past 12 years.
He loved being with his family, he loved the game of golf, playing every day in Lowell at his club, Longmeadow Golf Club where he was a long time member and in Florida at Osprey Point Golf Club where he also worked as a ranger. Nothing made Nick more happier than having friends over the house for some of Donna's appetizers and a glass of scotch on the rocks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Donna (Agganis) Vergados, his son, George Vergados, his two brothers, Peter Vergados and his wife Mary, James Vergados and his wife Anna, his two nieces, Johanna and Sophia Vergados; and his longtime buddy/brother Steve Glekas, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements
Relatives and friends will be received at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. His funeral will take place on Friday, March 19th at 10:00am at the Funeral Home to be followed by his service at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell at 11:00am. For those attending, facial coverings are respectfully required and social distancing measures will be in place, Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St Lowell, Ma 01854 or to Logganiko Society, P.O. Box 1033, Middleton,Ma. 01949. Our deepest condolences to the Vergados family. Jane and I were deeply saddened to hear of Nick’s passing. We have known Nick since we first met him at George’s Deli in the 70’s. Over the years we would see him and reminisce of those days and over the past few years share a drink with him and Stevie at Longmeadow. Always a gentleman and a big smile whenever we bumped into each other. Again we all lost one of the good guys. Rest In Peace Nick you will always be remembered.

It has been some time since You and I have had a GREAT LAUGH AT GEORGE's Deli.
That is where I first met you, when you had all work there.
You, George, Steve, Arthur, And I will never forget the times when we went down to The Zorba Room on Sunday Nights.
And we just had a Blast!!!!!!
