Norman G. Desrochers, age 89, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a period of declining health. For 68 years, he was the beloved husband of Barbara (Mullen) Desrochers.
Norman was born in Lowell on February 9, 1933, a son of the late Emile and Irene (St. Hilaire) Desrochers. He was a longtime resident of Dracut and a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Parish and the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Norm was a well-known hair stylist in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell and was the proprietor of Norm's Style Shop which he operated for 45 years until his retirement. He was a member and past president of the Dracut Lions Club, Pawtucketville Social Club, and the State Barbers Union. He also held membership in the D'Youville Men's Guild, Franco-American War Veterans and St. Vincent de Paul Society at the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish. Norm enjoyed playing golf, coin collecting, playing cards, and trips to the casinos. He loved being in the company of family and friends. Most special to him were family trips to the White Mountains, the Lakes Region, and the beach.
Besides his loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by his four children, Norman Desrochers of Amherst, NH, Denise Pelland and her husband Paul of Tyngsborough, Darlene Trombly and her husband Stephen of Milford, NH and Tom Desrochers of Dracut. He also leaves six grandchildren, Allison, Jonathan, Daniel, Derek, Miranda and Evan as well as six great grandchildren, Calvin, Emerson, Connor, Abigail, Amelia and Stevie. He is survived by two brothers, Roger Desrochers and Richard Desrochers and his wife Earlene, all of Lowell. His former daughter-in-law, Linda, two sisters-in-law, Gloria Desrochers and Pat Perry, a brother-in-law, Bill Mullen and his wife Mary Jane and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raynal and Roland Desrochers and brother-in-law of the late Judith Desrochers and Julie Desrochers.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Norman's life at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, May 15 from 2 to 5pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11 o'clock at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsborough. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
