Paul Conway Obituary

Lowell

"Uncle" Paul Conway, son of Helen McAuliffe and Joseph Conway, was born at home in Malden, Massachusetts on June 24, 1942 and left us on March 22, 2023 in the company of his family. Uncle Paul was preceeded in death by his five older brothers, Joe, John Edward, James Arthur, Bill and Bobby. He is survived by his three younger sisters, Ann Marie Quinlan of North Reading, MA, Betty and Ed Jusczak of Pelham, NH and Helen Alexander of Oakdale, CT.

Uncle Paul joined the Navy after graduating from Billerica High School in order see the world and was assigned to an Army base in Maryland. Coworkers and officers alike called him The Admiral, accusing him of being a lifer. Less than four years into his career, after being punished for failing to stand for an officer, he filed for his discharge. From thereon, he never missed an opportunity to remind those around him that work was a four letter word.

He lived on Middlesex Street in Lowell for over 50 years, caring for his parents, swimming at the YMCA, and walking family pets through Belvidere. A lifelong vegetarian, Uncle Paul loved all animals, cared for feral cats, and took in stray dogs. He detested clothes and would gleefully tell stories of his nudist exploits whether it was a beach in Vermont, a whale watch, bowling outings, or bike rides au natural.
