Richard DeLeo Obituary

Richard Joseph DeLeo, Sr. Korean War Veteran; 76 LOWELL Richard "Dick" Joseph DeLeo, Sr., former owner of DeLeo's Floor Covering, passed away at the Sunbridge Glenwood Nursing Care facility in Lowell on Monday, December 10, 2007. He was 76 years old. Dick was born in Stoneham, the son of the late Joseph and Adeline DeLeo. He was raised and educated in Malden and Medford. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Navy as a member of the SeaBees. He was extremely proud of his military service and continued his support of the military with his involvement in the American Legion in Medford. Dick had a very successful career as a floor-covering contractor for almost 60 years. He was the owner of DeLeo's Floor Covering located on the Fellsway in Medford. He had many loyal customers and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid boater and fisherman. He owned a Cabin Cruiser called "Oh-Oh-Nothing Yet" and would go deep sea fishing every Wednesday. He was President of the Point of Pines Fishing Club in Lynn. He also enjoyed wrestling. Dick was the Time Keeper and Announcer at wrestling matches held at the old Boston Arena. Dick gladly supported his son's interests. He was a Cub Master at St. James Church in Medford and an umpire for Little League Baseball. Dick was the beloved husband of 54 years of Anna Marie (Lombardo). Loving father of Richard J. DeLeo, Jr. & his wife Pamela of Tyngsboro and Joseph D. DeLeo of Revere. Brother of Dorothy DeLeo of Medford, Donna Silva of CA and the late Robert DeLeo. Grandfather of Kristie & Shawn Koester of Milford, NH, John-Ross Motenero of Everett, Sheena DeLeo of Lowell, Nikki & Stephanie DeLeo of Spartanburg, SC and Tiffany DeLeo of Tyngsboro. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. DELEO of Lowell, Richard "Dick" Joseph, Sr., age 76, died Dec. 10, 2007. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:45 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 118 High St., Medford at 9 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 3-7 p.m. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
