Robert E. Lockhart
of Nashua, NH, formerly of Chelmsford; 74

NASHUA, NH -- Robert E. Lockhart, 74, a resident of Nashua, NH and former longtime resident of Chelmsford, died Tuesday, November 30th. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Fortunato) Lockhart, with whom he would have celebrated his 54th anniversary in January.

He was born in Queens Village, NY on November 8, 1936, and was a son of the late Walter and Mary (Buckley) Lockhart. He received his education in Queens schools and was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School.

Mr. Lockhart served his country in the United States Army.

Early in his career he opened the first 7-Eleven in New England. He then became the owner and operator of the Carlisle Superette for 25 years. Most recently, before his illness, he was employed by Mitre Corporation in Burlington.

He was a parishioner of Parish of the Resurrection in Nashua and was a member of the Chelmsford Elks Lodge 2310, and the National Rifle Association. He was also an active volunteer with the Chelmsford Boy Scouts Troop 75. In his free time, he enjoyed his passion of automobiles and antique airplanes, and spending time with his family and his faithful companion Buttons.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Lynn (Reslow) Taylor and her husband Gregory of Tewksbury, Peter Lockhart and his wife Gwendolyn of Scottsdale, AZ, Joyce O'Connor and her husband Frank of Brookline, NH, and Deborah Reed and her husband Paul of Hollis, NH; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Reed, Kelly O'Connor, Jennifer Reed, Patrick O'Connor, Isabelle Lockhart, and Olivia Lockhart; and a sister, Harriet Lockhart of Stamford, CT; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Christopher Reslow and two brothers, Walter and Eugene Lockhart.

LOCKHART Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD, on Thursday from 4 until 8PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11AM at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
