longtime resident of Dracut; 77
DRACUT, MA -- Roland "Joe" Proulx 77, longtime resident of Dracut, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 30, 2011 at his home. He will be deeply missed by his very dear friend of 20 years, Ruth Arsenault of Dracut.
Joe was born in Lowell, MA on May 5, 1934, a son of the late Delia (Berube) and Walter Proulx.
Joe worked at Martin Welding in Lowell and as a Maintenance man at Adden Furniture where he retired in 1996.
He enjoyed camping, playing Bingo, and playing cards with friends and traveling with his dear friend Ruth. Joe was a great handyman and loved fixing things.
Besides his beloved friend Ruth, Joe is survived by his two daughters, Delia Spanos of Dracut, and Cynthia Proulx of South Easton, MA, an aunt, Rita Pellerin of Dracut, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert W. and Hector F. Proulx.
PROULX -- Relatives and friends are invited to a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph's Cemetery Chapel in Chelmsford with burial to follow. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701. Dear Ruth,
Our deepest Sympathy to you and your family. Joe was part of our Family 25 years ago when he was married to our mother Loretta, After our mom passed away suddenly, and circumstances that were out of our control, we lost touch with him. So very sorry that he never had a chance to get to know our children and be part of their life. Once again Our deepest Sympathy.

Joe was one of the kindest men I've ever met - so glad I had the opportunity to meet up with him again at the Dracut park over the last couple of years. My condolences to his family/friends.
