AYER -- Ruby Dean (Bennefield) Wilson, 78, formerly of 11 Victor Drive, Ayer, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Boston.

Her husband, Harold A. Wilson Sr., died in December 2010.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Shellman, Georgia, July 29, 1937, a daughter of Jessie and Annie Mae (Dunnaway) Bennefield and resided in the Ayer/Fort Devens area for over 20 years.

Mrs. Wilson worked briefly for the Nashoba Nursing Service in Ayer but her primary interests focused on volunteering her time to charitable efforts such as Helping Hands and the Thrift Shop, both located at Fort Devens.

She leaves two sons, Greggory Bennefield of Springfield, Harold A. Wilson Jr. of Fountain, Colorado; a daughter, Tisha Wilson of Chestnut Hill with whom she resided; five grandchildren, Greggory S. Bennefield, Chantz W. Bennefield, Isaiah J. Wilson, Judah X. Wilson and Kenneth D. Heath.

In 2000, she was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Bennefield of Texas.
