Sylvia Rogers co-owned Lowell store, active in Jewish organizations; 78 CHELMSFORD Mrs. Sylvia (Levine) Rogers, a resident of North Chelmsford, formerly of Lowell, entered into rest, Thursday, February 28, 2008, after an extended illness, aged 78 years. She was the beloved wife of Halstead H. Rogers with whom she celebrated their 57th anniversary last March. Born in Lowell, on September 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Myer and Minnie (Schneider) Levine. She received her early education in the Lowell schools, and her family moved to Lynn where she graduated from Lynn Classical High School with the Class of 1947. She returned to Lowell and met "Hal" at the bowling alley which was at the Temple Beth El, they married on March 5th, 1950. Sylvia worked with her husband Hal, at the family business, "Rogers Toy, Pool & Patio Store", here in Lowell. She was a member of the former Temple Beth El, held membership in the Sisterhood, and Hadassah, the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary. Sylvia enjoyed traveling with her husband Hal, they traveled all over the world, her most favorite places were, Portugal, New Orleans, England, the Caribbean Islands and Hawaii. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her loving husband, Hal; and a loving daughter, Linda S. Rogers of Absecon, NJ; beloved son, Gary E. Rogers and his wife, Nancy J. of Chelmsford; two adorable grandchildren, Angie N . Rogers and her fiancé, Brian LaFond of PA; a grandson, Justin W. Rogers of Chelmsford; two brothers, Louis Levine of Lynn, MA, and Saul Levine and his wife, Elsie of Del Ray Beach, FL. Sylvia will be sadly missed by many friends. She was the sister of the late Ethel Benjamin, Shirley Silverman, Samuel Levine, and George Levine and his wife, Mary. She was the aunt to the late Arnold Benjamin, and Rosandra Sampson. Graveside Services will be held Monday at the Montefiore Synagogue Cemetery, Pelham NH at 12 o'clock noon. Friends invited. The Memorial Observance will be held Monday at the home of her son, Gary Rogers, 12 Dakota Dr., Chelmsford, MA 01824 until 7 PM, and again on Tuesday at her late residence, Wayside Condominium, 6 Technology Dr. Bldg. #2, #227, No. Chelmsford, MA 01863 from 2 until 6 PM.
