Thomas Bissett Obituary

Thomas S. Bissett of Chelmsford, JVC Corp. retiree; 68 CHELMSFORD Mr. Thomas S. Bissett, age 68, a resident of Chelmsford, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Saints Medical Center. He was affectionately known as "Tired Old Man" within Bill W's Circle. Born in Cambridge, MA on August 12, 1940, he was the son of the late Normand T. and Elisabeth (Snow) Bissett. He was educated in the Melrose elementary School system and graduated from Melrose High School. He also attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for the JVC Corp. He had also been involved with several federal agencies over the years, including the Federal Reserve Board and NASA, as an independent Software/ Hardware advisor and had contributed to their efforts. He had a passion for electronics his entire life and had been the recipient of many awards as well as many of his inventions had been patented. He was an avid Tennis player and enjoyed walking. Surviving him are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer L. Layon and her husband, Victoriano of Selma, NC; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Bissett of Wilmington; a sister-in-law, Susan Bissett of Tewksbury, his best friend,, George J. Martakos of Chelmsford; a former daughter-in-law, Dana Bissett; several grandchildren; also nieces, nephews and friends. He was also the father of the late Stephen T. Bissett, and brother of the late Alan Bissett. BISSETT Mr. Thomas S. Bissett. Relatives and friends may call at the ROLAND W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 308 Pawtucket Street, Lowell, on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. ATTENDANT PARKING. Funeral services and burial will be private. Tom, I cant believe your gone! I didnt get a chance to thank you for all the rides you gave me to meetings, all the hugs you gave me every Saturday morning at the eyeopener, the cd`s you gave me about stress and addiction, the pictures you gave me from the cookout and the friendship and compassion you showed me when I was suffering. Ill miss you (and how your clothes smelled of downey fabric softener) :-) Luv Kathy R
