Highlands resident, active at St. Margaret; 79
LOWELL V. Patricia O'Brien, age 79, a lifelong
resident of the Highlands Section of Lowell, died
Sunday morning, September 30th, at her home after a courageous battle with Pancreatic
Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lowell, Jan. 3, 1928, the daughter of the late Michael J. and the late Nellie C. (Shea) O'Brien, She was a communicant of St. Margaret Church, and held membership in the Blessed Virgin Sodality of her parish and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Miss O'Brien attended Lowell Schools, and was a graduate of
Lowell High School in the Class of 1946. She then
attended Lowell Commercial College.
For many years, she was employed at the former
Enterprise, J.M. Fields and Stuart's Department Stores. She also worked at the Kings Department Store for 25 years. Before retiring in 1997, she was a Payroll Clerk at the Tewksbury Hospital for more than 10 years.
She enjoyed travelling and had many wonderful trips to Ireland, France, Portugal, Hawaii and Alaska. In
addition, she enjoyed Irish music and loved to go to Irish shows.
She was a wonderful and a caring person, who will be greatly missed, by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Miss O'Brien is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Graffam and Virginia Gattenby, both of Lowell; four nephews, Robert Nealon of Lowell, Philip O'Brien of Tyngsboro, Miles Gattenby and Kevin Smith, both of Lowell; four nieces, Sheila Gattenby of Hudson, N.H., Deborah Gattenby of Pepperell, Joan Provencher of Winter Haven, Fla., and Patricia Ciampa of Hollis, N.H.; many grandnieces and grandnephews; and dear friends June Martino, Ida Caveney, and Andrea Reilly.
She was also the sister of the late Lillian Nealon, Philip O'Brien, Sr. and Matilda Smith.

Her funeral will take place from the funeral home Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock followed by a Funeral Mass at ST. MARGARET CHURCH at 9:30 o'clock. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
