Dennis (Demosthenes) Tripodis, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2025, one day before his 92nd birthday.
Born in Ikaria, Greece, on Oct. 29, 1933, he came to America in 1952 with determination and a dream. Dennis began his career in the restaurant industry in Los Angeles before settling in Gary, Indiana, where he met his soulmate, Stamatoula (Stella). They married in 1957 and were blessed with two children, Dino and Maria. He later fulfilled his dream of restaurant ownership, opening Arman's in 1973 and Dino's in 1979, becoming a beloved figure in the Michiana dining community. Known for his warmth and hospitality, he welcomed every guest as family.
His legacy continues through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the restaurant tradition he inspired.
He is survived by his children, Dino and Maria; grandchildren, Athena, Demosthenes, Symone, Valanti and Stella; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Theodore and Noe; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Stella.
In later years, he divided his time between Ikaria and the U.S., cherishing family and lifelong friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Indiana, from 4 to 8 p.m. He will be laid to rest beside his Stella.

My very 1st 'real' job was at Arman's for Mr. & Mrs. Tripodis in the 1970's. I had nothing but respect for the family, as they pitched in and worked alongside all staff. Whether it was serving coffee refills, bussing, doing dishes, serving orders or making custom shakes, yum!! I remember Stella keeping pace with the crowds, cooking & getting those orders out from the kitchen. The regulars were there often and quite a crowd would come in on the weekends as Arman's stayed open really late for the 70's. Plus, had fresh, made to order food! Oh, I absolutely LOVED the food! Especially my basket favorite - polish sausage, on a soft poppyseed bun with melted cheese and sweet relish, plus a side of cheesy fries!!! Mr & Mrs Tripodis, RIP - you've more than earned it
