Evelyn Buckner, 90, of Streamwood, Illinois, received her angel's wings on Dec. 31, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky, and is survived by her sons, Michael Buckner and Scott (Audra) Buckner; and grandchildren, Weston and Connor Buckner; and sister, Rose Marie Krueger; and nieces, Carol Gottwald and Catherine Krueger.
She was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Dortmund, Germany, to Hans and Lucie Linde. She graduated from Elston High School in 1951. She then went to the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Chicago and graduated in 1952. Evelyn also attended Ball State University and was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
Evelyn moved back to Chicago and met the love of her life, Rocky, on Division Street. They eloped and were married in 1959. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, shortly thereafter and were blessed with two sons, Michael and Scott. They moved to Streamwood, Illinois, in 1968.
Evelyn enjoyed her career for more than 25 years, then volunteered as an election official with Hanover Township, Illinois, and with the St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Evelyn enjoyed dining out with friends and family, especially with her neighbor and friend, Tim Parke.
At her request, there were no services and Evelyn will be interred next to her husband, Rocky, at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois.
