Francis E. Mark, 88, of Michigan City, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Queen of All Saints Church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021. from 4-7 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Legacy Center at Queen of All Saints Church.

Francis was born March 6, 1933, in Michigan City to the late Ralph and Nettie (Priebe) Mark.

On July 30, 1951, in Michigan City, he married Patricia A. Phelan Mark, who passed away on Feb. 14, 1992. On Nov. 19, 1994, in Michigan City, he married Helga Graf Lake Mark, who is surviving in Michigan City.

Also surviving are three children, Timothy (Mary Kay) Mark, Patricia "Trisha" (Kip) Schult and Michael (Tammy) Mark; six step-children, Mary (Scott) MacLaughlin, Robert (Lori) Lake, James (Suzanne) Lake, Catherine (Jeff) Trevino, Theresa (John) Minford and John (Mary) Lake; 12 grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Howard; one brother, Ralph (Diane) Mark; two daughter-in-laws, Jan Mark and Amy Mark; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Mark; and two sons, Christopher and Stephen Mark.

Francis was a very well known cement contractor in the area for over 60 years. He was a member of Queen of All Saints Church and helped do concrete work around the church and school.

He was a member of Moose Family Center #980 and the Plaster and Cement Masons Union #692. Growing up, in high school he excelled in three sports. He loved taking his family to Notre Dame football and basketball games, where he would have many tailgate parties. He was also one the first members of the Catholic Federal Credit Union when it was started at Queen of All Saints.

He enjoyed camping, traveling, coaching CYO sports and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He and his first wife, Pat, were also instrumental in starting up the Therapy Center and Social and Learning Institute. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
