Gary Fred Huskey, 75, of La Porte went to heaven with his Lord and Savior at 1:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family. Those of us who have accepted Christ as our personal Lord and Savior said, "So Long" to him, not "Good-Bye."
He was born May 4, 1946, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, to Fred and Willa Bell (Newman) Huskey.
Gary honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He had a deep love for his family and his country.
On Dec. 2, 1967, in Galveston, Indiana, he married Karen (Crockett) Huskey, who survives.
Also surviving are his four children, Brenda (Tim) Winski of Chesterton, Natalee (Dave) Wintek of Granger, Stephen (Amy) Huskey of Westville and Brittany Huskey of La Porte; and five fabulous grandchildren, Eli Winski of New York, Sam and Sofia Winski of Chesterton and Emmit and Caleb Wintek of Granger.
Preceding in death were his parents.
A funeral celebrating his life will held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100, with Pastor Samuel Geckler officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at the funeral home. A masonic ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.

Gary and I were in high school at Elston High School in Michigan City, In. He always had a good attitude and could make me smile. After we were out of school we ran into each other at LaPorte Hospital. We had a good talk. I am so sorry that he is gone. My sympathy to Karen and family.

Gary and I were classmates at Elston High School in Michigan City. He always had a smile and could make me smile. After I was out in the world and working I ran into Gary & Karen at LaPorte Hospital. We talked and talked. They were fostering kids if I remember correctly. He was a great person. Sorry for your loss Karen and family
