Harold Wuerzburger Obituary

Harold Eugene "Gene" Wuerzburger, also known as "Pops" by his grandkids, age 91, passed away on Dec. 16, 2025. Gene was born on Feb. 25, 1934, to Harold Edward and Kathryn (Hahn) Wuerzburger who have preceded him in death.

Gene is survived by his wife, Ruth (Schuette) Wuerzburger; children, Gaylyn Wuerzburger, Hoyt (Becky) Wuerzburger; step-children, David (Aldona) Reid, Pammy (Kirk) Steer, Becky Boyan, Eric (Kathy) Evans, Patrick (Robin) Phillips; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim (Pamela) Wuerzburger. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his children, Janet; his second wife, Bobbie Jean Reid; sons John David Wuerzburger and baby Robert Wuerzburger; daughter, Aimee DiCarlo; and step-son, Ralph Phillips.

Gene was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran who honorably served during the Korean War. In his younger years, he played minor league baseball in Peoria. He was a member of the American Legion and formerly belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Gene had a lifelong love of sports and especially enjoyed attending car shows. He found great pleasure in golfing, gardening and fishing. Always willing to help others, Gene generously volunteered his time as a driver for P.A.F. and Blue River, ensuring people could get to their medical and personal appointments.

Friends may visit with the family at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Gene's honor to the American Cancer Association.
