John Sheets Obituary
John Paul Sheets, 57, of Michigan City passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana.
A celebration of life and time of remembrance will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the DAV in Michigan City. There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the DAV. The Michigan City Exchange Club will be having a walk through prior to the memorial services.
John was born March 10, 1966, in Michigan City to Joseph Sheets and Geri (Williams) Wright. His father is preceding him in death and his mother is surviving.
On July 8, 2001, in Michigan City he married Sherry Swindell Sheets who is surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving is one son, John Paul (Liz) Sheets Jr.; one sister, Angie Buren; one brother, Jimmy (Dana) Sheets; brother-in-law, John Swindell; sisters-in-law, Karen Swindell and Kristi Siegel; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his step-father, William "Bill" Wright; and in-laws, Jack and Maren Swindell.
John was the co-owner of Three Sheets Bar and Grill in Michigan City for over 20 years.
John was a past and current president of the Michigan City Exchange Club and a member of the St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He loved animals and spending time with his many friends. John was a big supporter of local family owned businesses and helping our local community grow. He spent many hours volunteering his time and talents at events in Michigan City from ringing the bell for the Salvation Army to helping with many cookouts and dinners. He was a beloved friend to many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Michigan City Exchange Club or the Michigan City Zoological Society in support of the Washington Park Zoo.
