Louis Westphal Obituary
Louis Westphal II, age 83, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Louis was born on July 14, 1938, in Michigan City to Louis Sr. and Hazel (Kilmer) Westphal, who preceded him in death.
Louis is survived by his children, Theresa Byers, Louis Westphal III, Jeff (Teri) Westphal and Christina (Patrick) Papke; grandchildren, Ryan, Steven, Amy, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Kevin and Keagen; great-grandchildren, Addilyn, Ryker and Khallen; and sisters, Patricia "Pat" Wheeler and Janice Sears.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Sue Westphal; siblings, Audrey Westphal-Gloy, Doris (Bob) Byarley, Florence Westphal, Betty (Oscar) Ward, Aleen (Edward) Layman, George Westphal, Willard "Bill" Westphal, Mabel (Pete) Youngblood, Joan (Jimmy) Dean, Alfred (Norma) Westphal and Raymond (Shirley) Westphal; son-in-law, Ed Byers; and daughter-in-law, Roxanne Westphal.
Louis loved the Chicago Cubs and I.U. Basketball. He enjoyed woodworking, being outside in his garden, traveling, flowers, the birds and visiting all different casinos. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves and was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge and the president of the Springfield Gun Club. Louis retired as a Pipefitter after more than 20 years of service and loved donating to various different organizations.
Family and friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN, 46360, with Pastor Bill Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriners Children Hospital.
