Mary Rose Sobecki, 94, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 9:23 a.m. in her home.
Private family services will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
She was born June 16, 1926, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Phillip M. and Clara (Manske) Staback. On June 21, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married James J. Sobecki, who preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas Sobecki of Reno, Nevada, and Joseph Sobecki of Michigan City, Indiana; daughter, Katheryn Rensink of Michigan City, Indiana; five granddaughters, Rebecca Flores of Palm Springs, California, Elizabeth Hall and Sara Sobecki, both of Grass Valley, California, Jessica (James) Eastman of South Carolina, and Alexis (Mike Dietrich) Rensink of Michigan City, Indiana; grandson, SSG. Anthony Joseph (Casey) Sobecki of Texas; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Robin Killingbeck of Grass Valley, California; and sister, Lucille Mazac of Michigan City, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip "Bimbo" – "Bud" Staback.
Mary Rose was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, watching "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune," enjoyed a good cup of coffee and was a diehard Cubs fan. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
