Matthew Edward Bline passed into the Lord's hands on May 3, 2022.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1974. His parents are Sharon and Alex Gurbatow, and Robert and Lynn Bline.
On Oct. 15, 2005, he married Christiana Molitor, who survives, along with his son, Logan Robert Bline.
He is also survived by his three grandmothers, Loretta Vaughn, Grace Bline Bailey and Barbara Kelley; as well as several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Proceeding him in death were three grandfathers, Edward Fisher, Forrest Bline and John W. Kelley.
Matt was a 1992 graduate of New Prairie High School and Indiana University, holding a degree in criminal justice and a minor in business.
Matt served in the United States Marine Corps as a proud Recon Marine. He also served in the Indiana Air National Guard. His college education was disrupted after 9/11 and he was deployed to the Middle East several times.
After three years he returned to IU to finish his education and marry his love, Christiana, whom he affectionately called "Sweets."
From a young age, Matt was a dedicated and responsible hard worker. He held several jobs and was most proud of his time spent as an investigator at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Matt was confirmed and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at First United Methodist Church of La Porte.
Matt loved the outdoors and adventure, canoeing, camping and skiing from a young age. As an adult, Matt hiked to the top of the tallest mountains in the lower 48, with his wife, friends and family along on a few. He ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.
Matt's family was his greatest love. He was the first to be there in time of need. Always the rock to lean on. The bond he shared with his son will not be broken by death.
A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Internment will be at the National Military Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Cremation has taken place with Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, La Porte, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Logan's College Scholarship Fund, (please make checks to Christiana Bline), 1117 Indiana Ave., La Porte, Indiana, 46350, or to the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund at https://www.mcsf.org/donate/.
