Robert Schultz Obituary

Robert "Gene" Schultz, 91, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 9:01 p.m. in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Private entombment will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

He was born Jan. 27, 1934, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to the late Carl and Ruby (Smith) Schultz. On June 16, 1973, in La Porte, Indiana, he married Phyllis Ferguson who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Also surviving are a daughter, Renee (Lloyd) Madaus of La Porte, Indiana; four sons, Christopher Schultz of La Porte, Indiana, Michael Schultz of La Porte, Indiana, Christopher Jacobs of Spokane, Washington, and Craig (Kathryn) Jacobs of Trail Creek, Indiana; five grandchildren, Amber (John) McBride of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Brian (Danielle) Madaus of Maui, Hawaii, Jessica Hess of Michigan City, Indiana, Heather Jacobs of Michigan City, Indiana, and Lauryn (Geoff) Ulam of Trail Creek, Indiana; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lois Calvert; and brother Richard Schultz.

Gene was the retired owner or R.G. Schultz Appliance & Repair and also had worked for 15 years at Whirlpool. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge 432, New Buffalo Yacht Club, Four A's Car Club and a former longtime member of the Michigan City Exchange Club.

Gene was a car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling, woodworking, attending auctions and being with his family.
