Winifred R. Kolar, 98, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021.

Winifred was born Thursday, March 15, 1923, in La Porte to Jacob and Rose (Mizar) Dreiner, and resided here all her life.

On July 5, 1947, she married George E. Kolar, who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2007. Winifred and George were married 60 years.

Winifred was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also worked many years as a legal secretary and was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church. She was a Cub Scout Leader, an avid swimmer who also enjoyed oil painting, reading, traveling and was a member of the YMCA.

Winifred is survived by her daughters, Lynn A. Kolar of La Porte and Joan M. (Robert) Pisto of Comox, British Columbia, Canada; sons, David J. Kolar of La Porte, Michael D. (Helen) Kolar of Naperville, Illinois, and Jan E. (Judy) Kolar of Wall Lake, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy J. Kolar; sisters, Rosemary Sauers, Gertrude Boklund, Dorothy Hofherr and Jessie Bancsi; and brothers, Donald, Daniel and Arthur Dreiner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte. Reverend Nate Edquist will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.
