Iris, I am so very sorry about your loss of Dan. He was always a smiling face at band rehearsals. We are much poorer for his passing, and I know you will miss him greatly.

Dan was my first private drum teacher. And he started me off on my drumming career. I now teach the Drumline at East GR and am a member of the Pistons Drumline. I remember the first thing he played for me at my first lesson. It was "Series". The cadences that the MSU Drumline playes on the way to Spartan Stadium for game days. That was the coolest thing I ever heard. And who knew that I would be playing the "Series" as a Spartan Drummer. Thank you Dan for everything you taught me.

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Dear Iris, our thoughts are with you and your family. It was a pleasure getting to know both of you and discussing how our lives have taken similar paths. Robert is fortunate to have had the pleasure of taking percussion lessons from such a talented and caring soul. We will truly miss him.

Dan was a consistant upnote for those of us in the Lansing area music community. He took an interest in the new musicians in town and was always so friendly and welcoming. We will miss him greatly.
