Denor A. Hey
Denor A. Hey Lansing Denor was born in Lansing on July 9, 1950 to Denver and Norma Hey and passed away on January 11, 2009 at the age of 58. She graduated from Sexton High School in 1968 and Central Michigan University in 1972 yet her heart belonged to U of M football. Denor worked for the State of Michigan in the Disability Determination Services program for over 24 years, retiring in 2000. While there she spent many heartfelt hours each year helping with their annual bake/craft sale raising many dollars for Toys for Tots. Denor loved to travel, both abroad and within the United States. In her travels she found her favorite spot was on the beach in Fort Myers, Florida. If Denor couldn't be on the beach, she was in the back yard puttering with her flowers or sitting in the sun watching them grow. Many of the miles covered in the 1990's were with her beloved Silky Terriers on the dog show circuit. 'Sassy' even won two "Best in Show" honors for her owners. Part of her time with Silkys was spent assisting with the rescue of many from Humane Societies and unwanted situations and helping them find 'forever homes'. Denor was predeceased by her father, Denver, and is survived by her mother, Norma, her life partner Beverly Bristol and Tonka, their last Silky Terrier. Also surviving are her brothers, Joseph Hey of Marquette MI, Timothy (CynGay) Hey of Indianapolis IN; her sister, Denise (David) Pamment of Chicago IL; and Beverly's family, Donald (Mary) Bristol of Lansing MI, Georganna Parsons of Midland MI, and their special friend Gordon (Lenore) Dryer of Lansing MI. Denor also has many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family members. Services will be held at Tiffany Funeral Home Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11:00 am with visitation Tuesday January 13th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens immediately following. If desired, donations may be sent in Denor's name to the Silky Terrier Club of America's Rescue Committee C/O Pat Schaedler, 7561 West 82nd St., Playa Del Rey, CA 90293-8816 or to the Toys for Tots Organization. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Hospice House of Mid Michigan for their loving care. Friends may visit the guest book at www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com.

I wish I had known Denor as I am sure we would have become friends. The Silky Terrier breed has indeed lost a very special friend. My condolences to her family.

I did not know Denor, but as a member of STCA, I know that her work with Silkys was appreciated. Her heart for rescues is enough information to know that she was compassionate and good person. My prayers are with her family.

Denor and Bev trusted me enough to place in my family my first Silky Terrier Ginger S'Frass Blue Gingham Bear- that was over 16 yrs ago and then through our continued friendship they entrusted me with 3 rescue silkys. Denor was a wonderful and outgoing person- always welcoming you with a hug.
My thoughts are with Bev, Tonka and their families.

I did not know Denor personally, but knew of her work in the Silky Terrier Rescue.
I know there will be many tails wagging for her as she makes her way over the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven.
And God will bless her for the work she did for the children.

Denor made the best cookies! The last time I saw her here in Midland, she shared some of her wonderful cookies with me. She was a very warm and fun person to visit with. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family and friends; especially Bev, who was so dedicated to her and took such loving care of Denor during her final days.
