Elizabeth Eavey Obituary

Elizabeth Marie Eavey

Lansing

Elizabeth "Betty" Marie Eavey (Lehman) of Lansing, MI returned to her heavenly home on August 27, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on August 25, 1928 in Lansing, MI to the late Harold and Elizabeth (Beachnau) Lehman. She graduated with a laboratory science degree and began working at St. Lawrence Hospital. Betty was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother taught us things about love and what that emotion really means. In a nutshell, loving someone is about giving, not receiving. Her passions included cooking, crocheting, baking, canning, gardening, and playing the piano. She had a special love for dance. Betty and her late husband, Richard Eavey, frequently competed in dance competitions, and she also instructed dance at Arthur Murray dance studio. She is survived by sister Genevieve Davis, her children: Bruce Eavey (Debbie Katz),  Cindy Morey (Jerry Morey),  Scott Eavey (Karen Esch), Greg Eavey (Jeanette Fineis), and Brett Eavey (Margaret Zerfas) and grandchildren: Tara Eavey (Mike Zucarelli), Conor Eavey (Maria Domingo), Amanda Morey, Grant Morey (Brooke Morey), Rachel Eavey (Peter Jones), Kellie Eavey, Brian Eavey, Jenna Eavey, Amber Eavey., Cheryl Eavey (Dustin Hurt), Brett Eavey Jr., Great grandchildren: Lorenzo and Gianna Zucarelli, Brielle and Georgia Eavey, Kembry and Grady Morey, Dylan Jones, Carter Jones, Emma Jones, Chloe Eavey, and Brynn Hurt. She was preceded in death by husband, Richard N. Eavey and brothers, Harold and Leon Lehman. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11:00am by Reverend Fr. James Eisele. Rite of Committal will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens. Visitation Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm with a scripture service and rosary at 7:30pm at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home and Cremation Services. We also want to give special thanks to Dr. Paul Minnick and the entire staff at Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. John's, MI for the past few years for their professional and loving care. Also Dr. Victor Elgabalawi, Dr. John Armstrong and the staff at the Emergency-Critical Care Units at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Mid-Michigan Office, or the Alzheimer's Association. Share your memories and condolences online at www.holihanatkin.com
