James Donahue Obituary

James Robert Donahue Okemos Passed away on October 12, 2010, less than 3 weeks from celebrating 45 years of marriage to his wife, Janet. As a husband and father he loved his family unconditionally and as a family, we have all benefited from his love and the many wonderful examples he set. Born September 17, 1943 to Richard and Jeanne Donahue, Jim attended Lansing area schools and served in the U.S. Army before graduating from Central Michigan University. Passionate about the game of golf, he strove to better amateur golf in the Lansing area. He was both founding member and former President of the Greater Lansing Amateur Golf Association. Jim was a student of the great Ben Hogan, loved the Spartans, Tigers and Red Wings and never gave up on the Lions. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Brian (Jilian) of California, Michael (Heather) of California, Jonathan (Tami) of West Virginia and Catherine (Jason) of Massachusetts. Grandchildren Casielle, Addison, Galadriel, Gavin and Thadeus Donahue, Genevieve DiChiara and Johnny Davis. "For if I live in your hearts, I truly have not died." -Jimmy Buffet-. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to: Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI 48906. I miss you every minute of every day! I still want you to come home and tell me you probably need a new set of clubs. Something that will hit the ball farther and straighter. Right now I guess I will just change the grips and see if that helps! Do you want to take a little drive to Carl´s in Detroit because I need some lead tape and I want to try out a putter. A very typical day at the Donahue house!

Jim was my "little brother" thru high school, then became my "golf mentor" - but never made to the top, but he kept after me. He will be remembered!
