Jane Noble Obituary

Jane H. Noble East Lansing Jane H. Noble died peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Born December 2, 1918 in Fort Worth, Texas, she had recently celebrated 90 years of an incredible life. She was the eldest daughter of Robert and Irene (Barrett) Harvey. An 82-year resident of East Lansing, she graduated from MSC where she met her husband, David W. Noble and joined the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. They were married on New Year's Day in 1941, and raised four children. During their growing up years, Jane was home with her children. Later, she worked at J.W. Knapp's and as an academic advisor at MSU. She was an active AXO alum and an avid Spartan fan who attended every home football and basketball game. She enjoyed many Wharton Center and Boarshead Theatre events. Mom experienced many trips to Europe studying art and culture, and volunteering was an important part of her life. She golfed, swam and enjoyed her bridge groups! What a role model she was for all of us. Thanks, Mom! Go Green!! Jane is survived by her children, Wynne Noble (Bill) Potter of Lansing, Sally (Jack) Spaulding of Santa Rosa, CA, David B. Noble of Leland, Gary A. (Barb Ruga) Noble of Newaygo, and two granddaughters, Jill Tesman Davis of Midland, and Hannah Tesman of Washington, D.C. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband (1982), and her sister Bette McClaugherty (2002) A Celebratory Reception will be held at The University Club, 3435 Forest Rd., Lansing, MI 48910, on Friday, February 27, from 2-4 p.m. Memory sharing will begin at 2:30 p.m. Mom would have been pleased with any memorial gifts in her name to the East Lansing Public Library, Boarshead Theater, or to The Spartan Fund, Michigan State University. The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, Michigan.

So sorry to hear you have lost your best friend, your Mom. She will be remembered for her smiling face and good humor. I always enjoyed playing a round of golf with her being a fellow member of the Tuesday Tee Birds. She took over a golf job from me and after the season I gave her all the information. Come Spring she looked all over for the papers and finally questioned whether I had really given them to her. After another thorough search, she finally found them under her bed. We had several laughs over the years about that. She certainly will be missed by our group and anyother people who had contact with her.
