I know my entry is late, but I just discovered Mr. Courter's passing. I took a hymnology course during short term that Dr. Bolster and he taught. They teaching techniques complimented each other and I so enjoyed that class and others I took from him. Thank you for loving music and for fostering it those of us luckily enough to be your students.

My husband and I will always cherish the memory of your playing the organ at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for us at our wedding 53 years ago. Hoping you feel the warmth, the strength, and the love of those who are reaching out to you. With caring thoughts and prayers.

John Courter was always a wonderful organist , teacher and friend to both faculty and students alike. I graduated from Berea College in 1987 and also enjoyed singing with the Choir.Dr.Courter would display that wonderful smile and exhibit such dry wit and humor along with his marvelous musical talents that he had in great supply he so freely gave so much to us all. .

John Courter was one of the finest people it was ever my privilege to be ssociated with in forty years of pastoral service. He was always the consummate professional and true artist in all that he did. He left a heritage in Berea that words are inadequate to describe. Charles M. Murray
