John Lenhard Obituary

John P. Lenhard

John Paul Lenhard, 69, died on Friday, May 30, 2014. John was born in Geneva, IL on December 12, 1944. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick E. Lenhard and is survived by his mother, Theresa Garneret Lenhard.

John will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lori (Jeff) Boss and Michelle (Terry) Brown, grand-daughters, Cassandra and Alexa Brown and Saylor and Sabrina Boss, along with his former wife and enduring friend, Anna Marie Lenhard. John is also survived by 11 siblings; Mary (Jim) Sullivan, Elizabeth (Robert) Wise, twin brother, James, Catherine, Dorothy, Thomas (Linda), Matthew, Phillip, Margaret, Joan and Mark(Beth) Lenhard, as well as, many nieces, nephews and their families. He also leaves behind a special aunt, Frances Smith.

John served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and in many ways exemplified "Semper Fi" throughout his life. John spent most of his career as a Real Estate broker. He was a loyal fan of the Michigan State Spartans, relishing the rivalry between MSU and U of M and the chances to gloat about Spartanwins. He began to root for the Tigers to appease his brother, Matt, to whom we are especially grateful. We also thank his sister, Mary, for her care and kindness. John's fondest memories were of times spent with his daughters, their families and Ann vacationing in Traverse City, as well as, time spent with friends. He loved opportunities to watch his grand-daughters compete in volleyball, horse shows, tennis and swimming.

John's body was donated to MSU for medical research. We pray his spirit is joining nephew, Rob Wise, on a Harley ride in heaven."

John will be remembered in a Mass on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Casimir Church in Lansing, MI. Family and friends will be greeted at 10 AM at the church. A celebratory luncheon will be held following the service at 1PM at the VFW in DeWitt, MI. If you wish to make a donation in John's name, please consider The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Lansing, Stoneleigh House.

My deepest condolences to John's large and loving family. What a great classmate and friend he was to all of us in the St. Mary Cathedral High Class of '62. John was always full of energy and never without a smile. It was wonderful to see him at our 50th class reunion in 2012. The infectious laugh he had in high school was delightful to hear again 50 years later! John worked hard to get us all back together and his continued emails following the reunion were something I greatly looked forward to receiving. I was so saddened to learn of his illness and passing. Knowing he will be missed deeply by his family, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you move through this difficult time. Sincerely, Nancy VanAntwerp (Lawler)

John will be remembered fondly by his his high school classmates for his great sense of humor and congeniality. It was good to share some time with him at our 50th year reunion two years ago. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family.

It is hard to have a good friend leave this world. However, I know my mom and dad will greet John in the next. John and I were friends not only at St. Mary's High School, but also when we worked together at D&C Dime Store back in the early sixties. Ever since John shared with Dave and I that he had cancer at our last class reunion, I have prayed for him daily. John came from a beautiful, loving and faith filled family. May his soul rest in peace. I look forward to renewing our friendship in heaven.
