Joseph Hennigan Obituary
Joseph Hennigan DeWitt Born January 1, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the son of Michael and Edna (Hovind) Hennigan, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the age of 79. Mr. Hennigan retired from the State of Michigan as a Chemical Engineer. He was very active in boy scouts for over 30 years, sang with the Riverside singers, and served on the board of the DeWitt Memorial Association. Joseph enjoyed his participation with the Indian Guides and also participated in the Eaton Rapids Camp meetings. He was a lay minister for the United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday school. He volunteered with the DeWitt swim club and enjoyed swimming, camping, traveling, and was an avid golfer. Joseph was predeceased by his parents; and 2 sons, John and Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah "Sally" Hennigan; 2 daughters, Janice (Paul) Mulford of DeWitt, Sally Ann (William Blakemore) Sharp of Durand; daughter-in-law, Karen Hennigan of DeWitt; 2 sons, Michael (Peggy) Hennigan of Grosse Point, Patrick (Kelly) Hennigan of Popular Bluff, GA; 16 grandchildren, P.J. (Val), Christie, Mikah (Rob), Joshua, Matthew, Sarah, Ashley, BillyJo, MacKenzie, Travis, John Riley, Annamarie, Michelle, Bridget; 5 great-grandchildren, Nick, Christopher, Tyler, Jacob, Moriah; and 1 sister, Evora (John) Knezy of California. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. (with visitation one hour prior), at the Northpointe Community Church, 505 Webb Road, DeWitt, MI, with interment following at the DeWitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI.
