Age 26, went to be with The Lord, Thursday, February 23, 2017. Laura was born September 25, 1990 in Phoenix, Arizona the daughter of Todd and Helen (Bellows) Carter. A kind, caring, loving, adventurous soul was taken from us all too suddenly. Laura's adventurous spirit lead her to many places, she traveled the world including Spain, Belize, Guatemala, Thailand and many more exotic places. She loved her dogs, Kiba and Suki, they meant the world to her. Laura was currently a student working at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Although she was small in stature the size of her heart was large. The amount of love and the amount of help she offered to all was never ending. A loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, cousin and friend will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorothy & Edwin Bellows and aunt, Demi Bellows. Laura is survived by her loving parents, Todd and Helen Carter; brothers, CPT. Curtis (Karla) Smith and Scott Carter; sister, Charity (Holly Rose) Carter; grandparents, Ben and Lavonna Carter; uncles, Jim (Lori) Bellows and Michael (Shelly) Carter; aunts, Penny Squires and Kelly (Gary Kaser) Carter; niece, Maya Smith; cousins, James and Jason Bellows, Elena Casale, Ben and Brandon Carter, James and William Steedman. A Memorial Service will be held, Tuesday, February 28, 2017, 4:00 PM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel with Chaplain Lyle Heaton officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends, Tuesday, February 28, 2017, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Laura. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.palmerbush.com.

I worked with Laura at Helen DeVos. She was one of our BHT's and a friend of mine. She was so dedicated and passionate about helping other people. She refused to give up on patients that others casted off, she always sought to find understanding and connections with patients and team members. She always had something funny or insightful to share-she had an amazing smile and life story. This is a huge shock and loss for our BHT community. She had a tremendously large impact on our team and our patient population, and her absence will be felt by all that had the privilege to work with her. She had a remarkable way of de-escalating the most difficult patients, and building relationships with everyone here. I'm so sorry to all that are mourning her loss. The last time we spoke, she talked about how she needed to be home and be with her parents. My deepest sympathy to her family. She will most definitely be missed and never forgotten.
