Peter J. Winkler

Peter J. Winkler Dimondale, MI Our loving brother, father and friend, Peter James Winkler, fought a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer and died peacefully on March 11, 2008. Born April 21, 1956, Peter's 51 years with us are filled with memories of his love for his only son, Jordan, and his many life interests. He was passionate about his mastery of Tang Soo Do; competing in two Detroit marathons; 20 years at John Henry Company; his precious Jack Russell Terrier, Sadie; and the many friends he made through Bill W. He enjoyed fishing in Canada with his brothers, camping, hunting and time spent on the Platte River. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Edna Winkler, and brothers, Ted Zalewski and Richard Zalewski. He is survived by his son, Jordan; siblings, Gary (Sandy) Zalewski, Sara (Lawton) Hiner, Jani (Ken) Todd, Larry (Sheron) Winkler, Karen (La Vone) Winkler-Swanson and John (Wendy) Winkler; sisters-in-law, Nancy Zalewski and Mary Zalewski; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 157 High St., Williamston. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and at the Church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Sparrow Cancer Center or Sparrow Home Hospice Program, c/o Sparrow Foundation, 1215 E.
