Richard D. Brenner D.V.M.

Richard D. Brenner D.V.M. Ovid and Hale, Michigan Richard D. Brenner D.V.M., age 70 passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Richard graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1967, and in 1973 was the co-founder of the Ovid-Elsie Animal Clinic in Ovid, Michigan. Dr. Brenner was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. He was active in the Ovid Lions Club for many years and was involved in Scouting through the Chief Okemos Council of the Boy Scouts of America. After his retirement he worked for eight summers as a counselor at the Northwoods Scout Reservation. His favorite activity to teach was fishing which gave him ample opportunity to share his dry sense of humor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Suzanne (Smith) Brenner, son Tom Brenner of Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter, Melissa Brenner of Ovid, and her significant other Chris Gunderman. Also by special friends and godchildren Scott and Desiree Thomas, Dylan, Olivia, and Donovan. He was preceded in death by his father Reynold Brenner and mother Doris (Weaver) Brenner. Per request cremation has taken place. Memorial services will take place at the Michigan State University alumni chapel on February 17, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. and at Northwoods Scout Reservation later in the Spring.
