Robert Longmire Obituary
Robert Louis "Bobby" Longmire was born on June 18, 1941 in Evergreen, Alabama. He went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2015.
Bobby was preceded in death by his stepfather and mother Wilbert and Lillian Lee (Lansing), father Robert Longmire (Alabama) and sister Helen DuVall.
He is survived by his soul mate Joy Walton; four children, Robert "BJ" Longmire and Byron Longmire (Tennessee), Wendy Longmire (Ypsilanti) and Tyler Norton (Grand Rapids); devoted sisters Jeanette Jackson and Linda Lee Tarver (Lansing); brothers Wilbert Lee, Tim Lee, and Ken Lee (Lansing), and Donald Lee (Alabama); A very special little girl, Jazlynn Douglas; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Robert was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School, class of '59-60 where he played football and ran track. Bobby retired from Oldsmobile in 1992 after 30 years. He was a skilled pottery artist with an emphasis on his Native American ancestry ("Choctaw Tribe"). Bobby was a gifted carpenter and mechanic. He was a pioneer in many areas including professional drag racing and a Michigan Pro Archer.
A memorial service will be held at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Lansing, on Wednesday, July 15th at 1 pm. A celebration of his life will follow at his home.

Over the years Bobby has watched my brothers and I grow up. He was just like a second dad. Holidays, birthdays, proms, even weddings he was there. To my parents he was not only a neighbor, but one of their best friends. I know they will miss chatting and hanging out with Bobby. Thank you for being the best neighbor we could ever ask for.
